Best of March 2015 Camera Traps: Keeping their head above water!

A small, but interesting set of images for March highlight how animals move through the forest when it is flooded. Both sun bears and pig-tailed macaques are seen using our boardwalks to avoid getting too wet! The boardwalks, not only make it easier for us to travel through the forest, but for animals too.

Sun bear

Animals will spend a lot of time and energy moving through their home ranges so it is not surprising they would choose to travel on an easier path than through the wet dense undergrowth.

A coucal rounds off the images for this month. While birds are not the main target group for the camera traps, we are lucky to get some great photos of these beautiful animals.

We also captured some exciting video footage! Check out OuTrop’s Flickr account to see the full selection of ‘Best of March 2015’ footage here.

A big thank you to the Clouded Leopard Project, Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium and Fresno Chaffee Zoo for supporting this project.
