We are excited to announce a new formal collaboration between BNF and the University of Palangka Raya (UPR). On 26th November 2016, a three-year MOU was officially established between the two parties, signed by Prof. Dr. Ferdinand, Rector of UPR, and Simon Husson, co-director of BNF. The event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Science, the Dean of the Faculty of Teaching and Education Science and the Coordinators of CIMTROP divisions, as well as other representatives of UPR and BNF.

The OuTrop programme of BNF has a long-standing collaboration with CIMTROP, a division of UPR, working together to protect the Sabangau peat-swamp forest through activities including biodiversity research, hydrology restoration and fire prevention. The new MOU solidifies the relationship between BNF and the University, providing a formal framework for us to continue our ongoing conservation work with CIMTROP, while at the same time opening doors to collaborations with other faculties such as agriculture, social science and education.

It is hoped that in the future, students from these divisions will profit from experience with BNF, and that our conservation activities will also benefit from the support of these faculties.(DN)
