The Governor of Central Kalimantan, H. Sugianto Sabran officially open the exhibition

Following the preview of the new nature photography exhibition I am the Forest at the Global Issues Network (GIN) Youth Conference last month, the exhibition was officially opened to the public on 2 October 2016 by the Governor of Central Kalimantan, H. Sugianto Sabran.

The photo exhibition features the works of internationally recognised photographers, including wildlife photographer and 2013 Grand Prize winner of the Smithsonian Magazine 10th Photo Competition Bjorn Olesen, shortlisted Environmental Photographer of the Year 2016 Björn Vaughn, and Racing Extinction photographer Paul Hilton, as well as Getty-photographer and The Guardian-nominated Photographer of the Year 2014 and 2015, Ulet Ifansasti. The exhibition features the works of talented nature photographers from Palangka Raya, Tanjung Puting and other parts of Kalimantan and Indonesia. The Borneo Nature Foundation team have also contributed flora and fauna photographs from our work in the forests of Sabangau and the Rungan landscape.p1200453
I am the Forest is brought to you by Kalimantan-based film production company Borneo Productions International in partnership with Borneo Nature Foundation and Bina Cita Utama School, in consultancy with exhibition consultant Sigit Pratama and supported by WOW Borneo, BOS Germany, Orangutan Land Trust, Green Gold and Begin for Good.

I am the Forest is a celebration of Kalimantan’s flora and fauna. It is a reminder of the unique biodiversity that exists in the forest and a reminder that we share this environment with other creatures – many of which are threatened with extinction. This educational exhibition also looks at the importance of protecting these forests and species for future generations. The aim is to provide objective information through telling different sides of a story and to inspire a conversation that may bring new ideas and innovations to light.p1200467

I am the Forest shows us that every person can have a personal connection with the forest. It is a nature photography exhibition from Kalimantan for Kalimantan and the world. It is an opportunity to share and discuss the future we want for our children.
The exhibition will be on show to the public at Muhammad Subuh Centre – Eco Village Rungan Sari, Palangka Raya until the end of December 2016.
