Borneo Nature Foundation has been selected as a European Outdoor Conservation Association (EOCA) 2019 Grant Winner.
Although we were not selected during the public vote, which took place in October, we were chosen in the next round of voting by EOCA members.
A huge thank you to everyone who voted and supported BNF during the selection process. We could not have done this without you!
EOCA funding will help BNF to address the causes of fires in the Sebangau National Park forest by restoring drained and deforested peatland, and encouraging positive behaviour change amongst local communities. Simultaneously, we’re tackling fire impacts by improving local firefighting capacity and developing fire-prevention networks. You can learn more about this project on the EOCA website here.
As many of you know, forest fires are the primary threat to this critical ecosystem in Borneo and we need support to put an end to this environmental crisis that has affected Borneo for over 20 years.
