Today I travelled around the forest with my family. We had tasty fruits to fill our belly around the home range until we were full.
Getting tired, my family and I started to feel sleepy. It’s time to find a sleeping tree! We then travelled to our favourite sleeping tree in the forest.
Once we arrived, we heard that the sleeping tree area was really noisy! We could hear and see two groups of red langurs fighting each other. “Huh, we can’t sleep if this continues!” I said. So we decided to wait and started to eat again on the nearest fruiting tree. Yummy!
Before we finished eating, we saw a flanged male Orangutan approaching our feeding tree. Well, it can’t be helped since we normally eat the same fruits in this forest, so sometimes we have to run into each other. We know that since Orangutans are bigger, they need more food. So my family and I decided to move since our bellies are full.
“You can eat here Mr. Orangutan. We are already full and will find a place to sleep now. See you around!” I said to the male Orangutan.
Since the red langur groups were still quarrelling, my family and I decided to find a different sleeping tree – a quiet and safe place for the whole family to rest – before we continued our forest in the next day.
This is based on the event that happened last month. Group C usually sleep around 2 p.m, but when they reached the sleeping tree, 100m north from them we heard a kelasi (red langur) group interaction, and to the west, less than 100m away, we saw a flanged male Orangutan approaching to feed in a tree nearby where the gibbons would sleep. Group C ended up sleeping around 4 pm, but we lost them because they ran really fast and only managed to find their sleeping area 100 m from the previous spot.
“Hey, kamu makan disini saja.
